The best in the world

To win the title of "Best in the World” always was my dream, since I was a child, says Marta.
You are only 22 years old and you have been appointed the best in the world twice. Do you think you can get even better?
“That is how I am. When I conquer something, i want to go further. I work to keep on growing. To win the title of "Best in the World” always was my dream, since I was a child, and it has happened twice and I want to work to experience this more times.”
What did you think when you won the title the first time?
“Many things went through my mind. I saw all that I had gone through....all that had happened since I moved to Rio alone at the age of 14, until that moment, when I was receiving the title of the Best in the World.”
Is it difficult to keep the motivation after winning a prize like this? With the men we see players like Ronaldinho, for instance, who had difficulty in keeping himself up there.
“No, I believe that motivation comes through achievements. For example, when winning the title of Best Player or when winning a match, one wants to maintain that level or to surpass it. The motivation will always be there.”
Who do you consider as the other best players in the world, in women´s football?
“In brazilian football i admire Formiga. I think she is great player, she marks well, she knows how to place the ball, she scores at each opportunity. Also, I haven´t seen Mia Hamm play too much, but I have played a couple times against her and she is good. And there is the English player, Kelly Smith. I love to see her play. I have played against her and I admire her very much.”
